What is Digital Law?
Digital law is the law that keeps internet away from bad people who do nothing but invade the digital community. Digital law helps keep illegal things from happening. Things like plagiarism, hacking, piracy are part of digital law. These things happen almost every day and it is invading the digital community. Plagiarism is copying other people’s things. It is not correct. There are many pictures that can’t be downloaded because the author doesn’t want that to happen. There are many new sites and software that allows you to check your work if it is plagiarized or not. This is really helpful because it allows to make sure that the work you are handing in is not plagiarized and completely in your own words. Also hacking into other people’s accounts and computers is wrong. This is very dangerous because this gives access to your account and your personal information will be visible to other people. Every one doesn’t want that to happen to them and I am sure that there is information that people would like to have personal. So all those people doing these things stop it! You are invading the same digital community that you are part of.
How to be a good citizen?
· Don’t hack into other people’s accounts
· Change things into your own words while doing research
· Give credit to people if you are taking something directly from them.
· Pay money for something that you are downloading (if needed)
· Don’t do things that are illegal
· If you are using something like PayPal or online banking then make sure you are not using some site that is not original and you are following all the safety rules.
· If you think that something is wrong then you should report about it immediately. Although there is no guarantee that you will get a response right away
How it impacts me?
Being a teenager in the 21st century I am great member of the digital community. There are times when I download some movies or games illegally. I try to avoid it as much as possible. Also recently my email was hacked. That was a lesson from my mistake to make sure that my account is protected properly and my password is strong enough so no one can crack it. Since I am a student I have to work on many different research projects. I have to be very careful about plagiarism and giving people credit for the things they deserve. Plagiarism and downloading correctly are the two most important things. It is very easy to make a mistake and I have tried my best to avoid doing these mistakes.
The hardest class that I had this year was Language Arts. Literature is just not my cup of tea and I am extremely poor at it compared to my classmates. I have worked hard on keeping up with it. Fortunately I worked on study guides that were assigned by Mrs. Eubank. It really helped me review the reading that I did and also remember it. The only good part I had this year in Language Arts was punctuating quotations. I also did quite well with my writing assignments. We have done quite a lot of different types of them this years and I have worked on getting a good grade in those. I am happy with the grades that I received because after working really hard on a class that is not my strength, there is nothing more that I can really ask for. So overall I am quite happy with my performance in Language Arts this year but I really think I could have done much better. I am really looking forward for next year similar to the one I had in 8th grade. Also there is a new teacher coming in next year and maybe he might have a working style that helps me make Language Arts make my strength class as well.
I have a social studies test next week. This is after a long time that Ms. Smith has given us some of the possible essays that we might have on the test. Doing well in this test is very important because as we are getting closer to the final it is very important to keep the grades as high as I can because that is the only way that I can miss my final. I couldn’t do in the last semester and I am really hoping to do it this semester. Missing a final is a really important thing and specially for a final like this where you have a lot of civilizations with a lot of information about them. We still have a week for finals after this week and I am really hoping to keep my grades as high as I can.
I am actually quiet scared for the end of the year coming up. This is the first time I am actually scared for the end of the year because this is the first time I am taking finals and unfortunately they come at the same time as the end of the year. I am also excited about the summer coming up. It is a great time of the year. After working really hard the whole year it is a really great time to just relax. I have some plans for the vacation but it is also a huge vacation almost like two months. So I can’t really plan for the whole vacation. I am going to India for sure and I am going to spend most of the time there. I really hope I don’t just start to stop working for the last couple of weeks and end this year in an astonishing way.
This is sort of a week with quite a lot of work. I have a short story due tomorrow. I have worked really hard on that over the weekend. The main reason why I chose to do it this weekend was because I wanted to have Mrs. Eubank look over it. Fortunately enough I finished it and I had Mrs. Eubank look over it. She helped me edit the whole paper which is really helpful. I made the required changes and I am already to hand my paper in tomorrow. Revising a paper specially a language arts paper is very important with the teacher because she is the only person who knows what she is expecting of the paper and she is the only person who guide you perfectly through the paper. So let’s just hope my paper goes well tomorrow and I get a good grade because I really need it.
After really thinking back about the whole year I am amazed by how much work I have done. This is probably the only class that I didn’t get bored working. It is not like the work we did was easy but the way worked on it and the way it was presented to us was the best. I never had to work under the pressure of working and I never got tired and wanted to kill myself for working on a project. Also the way that Mr. C made us work was amazing. There were very few moments when Mr. C showed us how to solve something unless it was very critical. We had to discover different ways to solve a problem and work accordingly. This skill of independent working helped me a lot in my other classes as well. I really think it is a very important skill for every individual. Working independently takes care of one of the biggest which is depending on someone for something. Personally I am a very independent person and I hate to depend on someone for something. Depending on someone can cause a lot of problems. Some of the problems that I have faced are that the other person is not responsible enough. Working with irresponsible person is the worst thing. It is a horrible feeling and unfortunately I have to face that quiet often. Apart from that I have also discovered many new things in terms of new technology and also problem solving. I am very happy that I got the opportunity to take this class. Unfortunately enough we need to take it only once and I have to choose something for next year. Hopefully it is going to be as amazing as this was but it is quite unlikely that it is going to happen.
This is a short week. We have like 3 more weeks for school with the finals week. It is both good and bad. The good part of it that school is finishing. On the other hand since school is finishing we are going to have more and more assignments. Also if we mess up in one of the assignments then that just means there we are going to have less opportunity to fix that mistake and bring our grades up again. This is the most crucial part of the whole school. After working really hard for the whole year everyone is tired and looking at only 3 school weeks left everyone goes into a holiday mood. Many people start slacking off and their grades start to fall. I really need to be focused and make sure that I don’t start to slack off. I really don’t want to end this year in a bad way.
